Happy Friday, Friends!
I hope and trust this post finds you all having a great day as a glorious new day – such a tremendous gift! – begins to dawn in my Sweet Home Alabama!
Last weekend, during the message at our church, Pastor Steve asked a question: “What is your most valuable possession?” That question hit me like a ton of bricks. This morning I simply ask you the same question – What is your most valuable possession? If everything were stripped away and you were left with only one thing, what would it be? I offer you no deep words of wisdom or thoughtful insights; I simply encourage us all to ask ourselves that question and then honor the truthful answer to it by bringing everything we are, say, and do into alignment with it.
I also want to share something that I found on Facebook this past week that I thought was awesome. It is from Clint Riggin, and it is titled Biblical Leadership. Now, Clint had made this into an awesome graph…I will NOT be doing that this morning. I do want to share the powerful message, however, as I think these are good tools to have in the leadership toolbox.
BIBLICAL LEADERSHIP
How Jesus defines leadership
In the center:
SERVANT LEADERSHIP
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve…”
The 5 spokes, if you will:
Go First
1 Corinthians 11:1
“Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ.”
Humility Before Authority
Philippians 2:3-5
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition…have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.”
Faithfulness in the Work
Luke 16:10
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
Shepherd the People
1 Peter 5:2-3
“Be shepherds of God’s flock…not lording it over those entrusted to you.”
Presence Over Position
Matthew 20:26
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.”
Lead by Example
John 13:15
“I have set an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
LIVE IT. MODEL IT. MULTIPLY IT.
