Happy Friday, Friends!
I hope and trust this post finds you all having a great day on this glorious Friday evening!
I have a question for all of us this evening: how are we taking care of ourselves? Knowing that nobody can pour from an empty cup, what are the things that we are doing to renew and refresh our Spirits, souls, minds, and bodies? There will come a point when our best is needed; in that moment, it will not matter what we want to do, what we hope to do, etc. It will only matter what is in our well, for what is in the well always comes up in the bucket.
I get it! Life’s demands are real. I worked for several years as a coach and athletics director, taking no time off because I had so much to do. And that is true; the demands of the job were, and are, absolutely real and relentless. The thing is, everything comes at a cost. Our choice to prioritize one thing always costs us another – saying yes to one thing means saying no to another. And what price was paid for me not taking the time to renew and refresh my Spirit, soul, mind, and body? I wasn’t the best I could be; my family didn't get the best of me, and I wasn't the best man, husband, father, leader, or friend for those who counted on me needed me to be. In my humble opinion, the cost was too great.
I want to encourage you, Friends, please take care of yourself. You are the only one of you there is; you are a masterpiece, and your life has great value, meaning, and purpose. I understand and fully appreciate that your job is important, and this is by no means an attempt to minimize it. It is a declaration, however, that you, your family, and you being the best you can be to serve those who are counting on you is more important!
Albert Schweitzer once said, “Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing.” And on that note, I am now going to get my Beautiful Bride, walk down the beach to dinner, and enjoy a blessed weekend together.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is ever anything I can do for you or your family. I will always help you any way I can. You can reach me at kevin@whatwillyourinfluencebe.com.
Have a great evening, a wonderful weekend, please cherish your precious family, and please stay well!
